Having noticed the increasing demand of the energy consumption and the lack of the supply resources in 2003, the attention of the MEW turned to alternate Renewable Energy (RE) sources. The program strived for following 10 years but needed a legal regulatory authority to standardize the RE interventions across Afghanistan.
AREU was established in 2013 under Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) to fulfil the very need of RE services standardization.
AREU facilitates to organize and regulate the RE products and services. It assists the international investors and stakeholders in the appropriate investments guiding them using the national RE trade policies and procedures. AREU further exerts a decisive influence on creating and securing a suitable policy framework for stable growth, and thus on ensuring investment security throughout the RE industry. Our objective is to establish RE energy as a permanent pillar of a national energy industry.
